Congratulations Dr. Raglena Salmans!
Raglena Salmans is the Director of the Health Sciences Learning Resource Center (HSLRC) at EKU. She received her bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from Eastern Kentucky University, her master’s degree in Career, Technical, and Leadership Education from the University of Kentucky and her Doctorate of Education in P-20 Education and Community Leadership from Murray State University. Raglena has served as Director of the HSLRC for twelve years, prior to that she was the College of Health Sciences first Academic Advisor. Although she and her staff oversees the daily operations of the Learning Resource Center, Raglena is also the academic partner for the Health Sciences Living and Learning Community, and co-chair for the CHS Scholars Day Committee and CHS Commencement Committee, Alumni Newsletter Editor, and member of the Recruitment and Retention Committee for the college. She has taught the freshman student success seminar, various courses within Applied Human Sciences and looks forward to teaching for the Department of Recreation and Park Administration this coming summer. She is a member of the Mid-South Educational Research Association and currently serves as Membership Committee Co-Chair. In her spare time, Raglena enjoys camping with her family and spending time with her husband, Bob, and son, Justin, along with their two beagles, Jake and Harley, plus numerous beef cattle and chickens on their family farm. Her current interest in research includes retention of students in higher education.
