Dr. Camille Skubik-Peplaski was awarded the College of Health Sciences Excellence in Faculty Service Award in August 2020. She came to EKU in 2012 after completing her PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Kentucky. Her master’s and bachelor’s degree are in occupational therapy from Wayne State University and Eastern Michigan University. Camille received this service award due to her sustained leadership in the occupational therapy profession. Recently, she completed a two year term (10/1/2020) as president of the Kentucky Occupational Therapy Association. During the COVID pandemic she worked to inform and lead practitioners by organizing a webinar series and providing resources. She highlighted EKU by hosting the state conference on campus and incorporated students in legislative and association issues. She planned, organized and implemented Spanish Workshops to EKU faculty and students to teach Basic Spanish Skills for the Healthcare professional every Fall and Spring 2013-2019.

Camille has also been active in department evaluative committees, participated on the graduate council and faculty senate and been a founding member of a national leadership committee. In addition, she has provided occupational therapy services to those in need and included students in her community-based research. She was able to receive a grant to support these endeavors. Following her research studies she has guided several students to present at regional, state and national conferences. She has also been active in her community volunteering for a local school on decision-making committees. Camille has been active with recruitment at EKU activities, professional association meetings and presentations sharing its benefits to all levels of interest.Dr. Skubik-Peplaski has performed sustained activity in service activities.  She is respected by peers, elected to evaluative committees and actively participates in all activities.  Her dedication, responsivity and timeliness is valued by the Department and College of Health Sciences.
